Is Pinterest a Good Fit For Your Business?

< back to blog home

The short answer to this question is YES. Pinterest is a good fit for your business. It’s a good fit for coaches, bloggers, service providers and creative entrepreneurs just like you. And I’ll tell you why.

While there are a few social aspects to Pinterest, its main function is a search engine and a very powerful one at that! It functions as a visual search engine and chosen by users to plan and research. In my opinion, it belongs right behind Google and YouTube.

Now, that alone should make you want to take advantage of the platform for your business, but I’m happy to keep going.

First, some staggering stats: there are currently 400+ million active Pinterest users a month and 200 billion Pins saved by Pinners.

I don’t know about you, but those numbers are hard to even wrap my mind around. Let’s break it down a little to see how it works.

Pinners go to Pinterest when they want to begin planning for the thing they want to buy.

Since it is a visual search, those who are planning and shopping easily get inspired by new ideas and products. And Pinterest users go to Pinterest intending to buy.

It’s the perfect planning site.

Then, Pinners go back to Pinterest when they’re ready to buy.

Over 50% of all Pinterest users report that they go to Pinterest when they’re ready to buy. This is huge.

Pinterest is constantly improving its platform.

Pinterest is on top of the latest innovations, making it easier for users to shop the items that they are researching. This is great news for those of us selling products and services.

Pinterest works for you.

Pinterest levels the playing field for all businesses.

How’s this for some encouraging news:

“97% of top searches on Pinterest are unbranded, meaning people come to Pinterest to shop for generic terms and not specific brands, leveling the playing field for businesses of all sizes to be discovered.”

Even if you’re a small business just getting started, Pinterest gives you a way in—and puts you on the same level as bigger, more experienced businesses.

So, let’s talk about what this could mean for YOUR business. Here are some questions to ask yourself to see if Pinterest is a good fit for you. (Hint: it is!)

  • Do you know your audience and who you want to serve?
  • Are you creating consistent and valuable content but just need more eyes to see it?
  • Do you have products and services that you offer but need to figure out how to get them in front of more people?
  • Do you have a consistent social media strategy, but it’s just not paying off like you had hoped?
  • Are you spending time and money on Facebook and Instagram ads, but you’re just not seeing growth in proportion to the amount of money you’re spending?
  • Are you asking yourself if there is a better way to have a more automated marketing strategy that doesn’t take so much time and money?

If you answered “yes” to even one of those questions, then Pinterest is the place to be to gain more leads to your offers, grow your email list and ultimately make more sales. All you need is the right strategy for you and your business, and you’ll be on your way to success!

Here’s a list of just some of the industries that are searched on a regular basis on Pinterest:

  • Business and marketing
  • Service providers
  • Health and wellness
  • Fitness
  • Fashion
  • Beauty
  • Photography
  • Travel
  • Food and beverage
  • Weddings and special events
  • Motivational quotes
  • Gardening and landscaping
  • Special events
  • DIY home renovation
  • Home décor
  • Parenting
  • Crafts

Did you see your business on the list? Remember, that’s not even all of them!

Now, be honest. Are you thinking: This all sounds great, but where am I going to find the time to learn another marketing strategy for my business?

If you are a coach, blogger, service provider or creative entrepreneur who needs help figuring out where to start when it comes to using Pinterest for your business marketing. I would love to help you! There is so much more to Pinterest than just a place to pin your favorite recipes.
